Sam has twelve years behind him in Unlimited Racing, but is a lifelong fan. He spent quite a few years as a referee for Hydro Prop, ABRA, and US Title Series Championship Outboard Hydroplane & Runabout Racing. Sam works with the mechanics of the boat and gearboxes on race weekend.
Ken has been with the team since its inception. He worked as a Referee for ABRA for 3 years prior to joining the team in 2011. Ken assists with the mechanics of the boat, mainly the engine, gearbox, and drivetrain. He is an expert welder and fabricator.
Aaron has been with the team since 2011, but he has been racing since the age of 14. An accomplished outboard racer, winning several national titles, Aaron has great knowledge of the composite structures of the boat and was extensively involved with the rebuild of the T-4 boat.
Lee grew up in a small town in South Dakota. He moved to the Northwest 20 years ago and has been a fan of boat racing ever since. He has a unique start in hydro racing as he was visiting friends at the boat shop one day and was put to work! This will be his fifth year working on the team and he is very excited to have the opportunity to help the U-11 team.
Mike has worked with the unlimiteds since 2007. Mike is also active in hotrod and drag racing. He has worked with Jon Zimmerman on his 5 litre and multiple other championship inboard teams. Mike will continue to help with the engine program this year. He is also the only crew member who commutes to the boat shop by Ferry!
Randy has been working on Unlimited's for over 25 years. He has worked on many successful teams including Tide, Llumar, Elam and Beacon Plumbing. Randy is a corvette enthusiast and lives in Detroit, Michigan. At the races, he works on the propeller and rudder. His meticulous attention to detail has kept the back end of the boat running smooth for many years!
PK started working on unlimiteds in 1998 with the Budweiser team. In 2005 he joined Scott and Shannon on the U-8 Llumar team and has been involved with them ever since. PK has always been involved with racing of some kind and really enjoys the competition and comradery. PK has friends on every team up and down the beach.
Todd has been involved with the unlimiteds for the past 5 years but like so many on the crew he grew up following the thunder boats. Todd's favorite racing memory is when Dean Chenoweth won his last Gold Cup at Seafair. Todd helps out on the composite parts of the boat and most recently became a trained PT whisperer.
Bruce has been working with the Unlimiteds for 6 years. He is an A&P mechanic and a former commercial multi-engine instrument rated pilot. Bruce has served in both the Army and Air Force. Bruce says his favorite part about racing is winning!
Tim joined the team in Detroit in 2012 as a one race volunteer. He was instantly hooked and has been involved with the team ever since. Tim works both on the boat and with the media team. Tim lives in Richmond, VA, with his wife, Tammy, and three young children.
Peter is a licensed helicopter pilot who lives part time in Doha, Qatar. He became involved with our team on their first trip to Doha. Peter assists where needed on the boat, but has been essential in helping the engines stay running at peak level especially in the tough salt water races.
Brian is new to U-11 team in 2015 after gaining experience on other teams for many years. He assisted mostly with the engines but would lend a hand anywhere needed. He brings vast mechanical skills and knowledge to our program.
